Conn Co 500, Shore Line Trolley Museum, Branford, Connecticut

The Crown Jewel Of The Conn Co. “Museum In Motion” is an annual event at the Shore Line Trolley Museum in Branford, Connecticut. The museum usually rolls out about 25 cars for the parade, as they did on August 14, 2021. But none is in the class of Connecticut Company 500 (J.G. Brill Company, 1904). The car is restored to its 1910 configuration, which enclosed the end platforms. For decades, this car’s main function was to transport company officials over the 720-mile Conn Co system for inspection trips, and thus included a kitchen, a drinking fountain, and a lavatory. The 32 remaining Connecticut Company cars are spread across three museums in New England, as well as a single car that was sold to Charlotte, North Carolina.
