MTA NYCT Subway Jay-Z Wraps On The J Line. Featuring a design based on the signature hand gesture representing Roc-A-Fella Records and the goal of going "diamond," two sets of MTA NYCT Subway R160 cars were wrapped for the Jay-Z30 Pop-Up Events. The wraps made their debut on June 25, 2026, the same day the events opened—one of which was held in a closed, non-public portion of the Bowery station. Jay-Z (born Shawn Corey Carter) co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1994 to release his debut studio album, Reasonable Doubt (1996), which turns 30 this year. With approximately 125 million records sold, he is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He was raised in the Marcy Houses, which are located near the J line, and this is how his childhood nickname, "Jazzy," evolved into "Jay-Z"—a direct tribute to the J and Z subway lines.
