MTA NYCT Subway R62A Subway Cars On The 4 Line. On Saturday, September 5, 2026, several sets of R-62A cars normally assigned to the 6 Line were used on the 4 Line in coordination with other work. The 4 Line operated in two sections, with the segment from 138th Street–3rd Avenue to Utica Avenue (extended to New Lots Avenue overnight) lacking easy access to the line's Bronx yard. Although this segment ran local in Manhattan, its routing through these two stations differentiated it from standard 6 Line service. The R-62A cars are remarkably similar to the Kawasaki-built R-62s that once dominated the 4 Line before being replaced exclusively by the R-142 class for many years. The train is seen stopping on the express side of the island platform at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall Station in Manhattan, New York.
