Checking Your Clearances. On April 4, 2012 Market Street Railway/SFMTA | San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency/San Francisco Municipal Railway car #1 was built in 1912 by W.L. Holman Company. Fast forward almost exactly 100 years and the car has just returned from rebuild at Brookville for its centennial. This was a non-revenue trip, and its first trip on the line after returning. A number of workers were walking along in front of it by this busy junction near the ferry terminal watching its wheels closely as it rolled over the switches. A few weeks after this photo, the car had its formal public rededication.
