Phase III Freedom. On Saturday, February 14, 2026, Amtrak Train 49 (Lake Shore Limited) was a few miles into its journey from New York Penn Station/Moynihan Train Hall in New York, New York, to Chicago Union Station in Chicago, Illinois, when it turned the curve in Dobbs Ferry, New York, on a partially frozen Hudson River. The sequential matched back-to-back P32AC-DM pair of AMTK 710 and 711 pairs up well with deadheading AMTK 85999 (40th Ann Cafe) and a Viewliner II baggage car, with the Freedom Tower and the rest of the New York City Skyline in the background. This week saw the first release of a Phase VII baggage car from the Beech Grove shops, so even relatively recently arrived Phase III striped cars are now targets for repainting as well.
