The Rules As They Were. On August 8, 2015, Amtrak 43 (Pennsylvanian) was running close to its scheduled 5:06 PM departure time from Altoona, Pennsylvania, when it passed the park at Horseshoe Curve. Former Pennsylvania Railroad GP9 7048 (EMD, 12/1955) needed some new paint, but stood vigil as it has for decades. At that time, one was allowed to walk up the stairs after the park closed at 4:00 PM, but in contemporary times, this is considered trespassing, so one will have to make other plans to shoot the westbound Pennsylvanian.
