Dock Through-Truss Vertical Lift Bridge Opens & Closes. On February 9, 2019, Amtrak opened and closed Dock Bridge. This bridge, over the Passaic River between Newark and Harrison, New Jersey, carries Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, and PATH trains. Lifting the bridge allowed the tugs Iron Wolf and Sea Lion to pass with Hughes Barge 61B.

The bridge was built by Waddell & Hardesty/Waddell, Dr.J.A.L. for the Pennsylvania Railroad, and opened in 1935. The bridge is currently being rehabilitated as part of the Gateway Project. After years of infrequent use, the bridge was lifted more often during a project to dredge the Passaic River. In 2025, Amtrak requested that the U.S. Coast Guard approve keeping the bridge lowered until its rehabilitation is complete.
