Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad, DL&W 409, South Scranton, Pennsylvania

Investing in History. The Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. Delaware-Lackawanna recently received this Alco HH660 that was built in 1940 Schenectady, NY for the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railways (DL&W) as #409. One of what is thought to be five former DL&W diesels, three of them now belong to the DL. The engine is slated for restoration and service on the railroad. Seen on the night of Sunday, August 16, 2020 a the DL's Scranton, Pennsylvania shop, its appearance shows the effects of being nearly 80 years old, but the engine is still very much mechanically in tact.
