Five Frozen Chargers. The recent cold spell preserved snow and ice in the New York metropolitan area for an extended period of time. On most days, two of the new Siemens SC42-DM locomotives have been operating in revenue service. This not only gives MTA Metro-North Railroad additional motive power, but also opportunities to continually evaluate them under 'real world' conditions while the GE P32AC-DMs are still on the roster. And most importantly for photographers, more chances to shoot them in winter settings!
