New Classic Power. NJ Transit Train 1629 was heading to Spring Valley, New York, after crossing HX Draw from Secaucus to East Rutherford, New Jersey with NJTR 4120, an EMD F40PH-2CAT (11/1981), leading on June 24, 2025, with the Freedom Tower in the background. The unit has received some cosmetic attention in recent years and is still pretty bright and shiny at almost 44 years old. Once upon a time, railfans bemoaned the appearance of the new F40 'screamers' on the scene as they displaced E and F units. And now as there are fewer F40s in revenue service every year, history repeats itself, and they have become the new classics.
