MTA NYCT Subway R-77 L892 "Tribute", Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
Tribute At Yankee Stadium. The MTA New York City Transit Subway has quietly introduced a Tribute unit to its work fleet. On August 24, 2022, R-77 L892 (SL50/50T, General Electric, 1983) led Work Train 15 down the 4/Jerome Avenue Line, seen passing Yankee Stadium (III) at the 161 Street-Yankee Stadium Station. On the side of the engine is written "Tribute - Remember Our Fallen Transit Heroes", memorializing this who have died while working for MTA NYCT Transit. The unique paint scheme was applied during a rehabilitation of the engine. This Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009, was built across the street from the site of the previous 2 on the corner of East 161 Street/River Avenue, and is the 5th and current home of the New York Yankees (Hilltop Park, Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium I/II).
