Market Street Railway, San Francisco, California
The one that wears its original clothes. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency/Market Street Railway PCC 1071 is seen tuning onto Noe Street from Market Street on the afternoon of April 4, 2012 on the F Market Street line. Built by St. Louis Car Company as Twin City Rapid Transit (Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN) #362 in 1947, it spent most of its life as Public Service of New Jersey/NJDOT/NJ TRANSIT 23. Retired in 2001, it was purchased by SF MUNI in 2004, and went to Brookville, PA for restoration. It had arrived on the property a few months prior in 2011, one of eleven brought here from New Jersey, and is still in beautiful paint on this early spring day.
