MTA Staten Island Railway 412 (ME-2/R-44S) Tottenville, Staten Island, New York
It is, in fact, a railroad. The MTA Staten Island Railway is not a subway, but a railroad originally operated by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad until operations were assumed by the MTA in 1971. Its 63 R-44S/ME-2 cars have grab irons and sanders, amongst other equipment that differentiates them from the rest of the MTA NYCT Subway fleet. Built by St. Louis Car Company between 1971-73, these cars are now entering their 46th year of service in Richmond County. 412 leads a typical A-B-B-A set on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 as it is about to end its journey from St. George to Tottenville.
