Western Railway Museum, Rio Vista Junction, California
First of The Last. San Francisco Municipal Railway 1016 was built in 1951, and was the first car of the last order of PCC cars produced by St. Louis Car Company (1016-1040). The Bay Area Electric Railroad Association chartered this car on a excursion in San Francisco on October 25, 1951 to celebrate the arrival of the new PCCs. The Western Railway Museum recently completed a 5 year restoration of the car, which converted the car back to its original two-man operation configuration as seen on on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
