Amtrak Train 2166, Acela 2 TS 26 AMTK 2143, Hell Gate Bridge, New York, New York
Amtrak's America250 Acela Next Generation Set On The Hell Gate. On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Amtrak Train 2166, powered by Acela2 Trainset 26, crossed the Hell Gate Bridge in New York City while en route from Washington, D.C., to Boston. This set features the "America250" commemorative wrap, with the leading east/north-facing power car (AMTK 2143) emblazoned with the word "Revolutionary" and the trailing unit (AMTK 2147) marked "1776/National Champs." Both cars prominently display the official America 250 logo and the Department of Transportation America250 logo to celebrate the nation's semiquincentennial. As these next-generation Alstom sets entered service last year, offering superior speeds and expanded passenger capacity, they have signaled the beginning of the end for the legacy Acela fleet that has defined the Northeast Corridor for over two decades.
