The Matching Sign. On the sunny afternoon of August 14, 2024, MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 853 was flying through Scarborough, New York on Track 2 when it passed the old Scarborough Station with MNCW 217 (P32AC-DM, Penn Central/NYS-40th Anniversary) leading. This unit is wrapped in the New York State colors, a design created to demonstrate that the state was subsidizing the commuter passenger service (as well as to keep PC from sneaking the power off to freight service) and adapted for modern power as a heritage unit for Metro-North's 40th Anniversary. The building to the left has been the Scarborough Post Office since 1961 when it was purchased by the village, but was once the passenger station building. One of the underappreciated landmarks of the Hudson Line is its "Scarborough/Briarcliff Manor" station sign painted in that era's NYS colors, the perfect photo prop for this picture.
